Galena, Illinois

After Thanksgiving this year, we took an opportunity to make a rather spontaneous trip to Galena Illinois. Galena is a quaint river town that is nestled among rolling hills, with many historic 19th century buildings. All this combined with a light dusting of early winter snow provided a bunch of photo opportunities. I’ve included one of the home of Ulysses.S. Grant. His presence is felt throughout the town. If you’re ever in the area, it’s worth a stop. The tour of Grant’s home was a well worth the suggested $5 donation. I hope you enjoy this sampling of images from our visit.

Autumn 2013

Fall is just about my favorite season, and this year it did not disappoint! I was fortunate to have spent early October in northern Minnesota in the beautiful north woods. The weather could have been better, but the scenery was breathtaking none the less! Also breathtaking was the fall I took down one of the hilly trails that resulted in a few remarkable bruises, but that’s  a story for another day! These are some of the photos from Jay Cooke State Park, just outside of Duluth MN.

On the drive back home, we stopped in central Wisconsin and captured more colors.

Later in the month I spent some time exploring the rural areas in Hamilton County Indiana. I’m always amazed at the beauty to be found within minutes of home.

Finally, we jumped in the car one beautiful Sunday morning and journeyed to Putnam County Indiana and hiked a local nature preserve.

These photos (and more) are out in my “Fall” gallery. As the seasons continue to change, I look forward to adding to my Winter collection. Stop

back soon and I should have more new additions!

I’m Back!

After a long hiatus, I’m back with a new look and a new direction. First of all, if you’re reading this, you’ve found my new website. My favorite designer /daughter Erin (check out her work at www.erinyork.com) completed a total makeover of my site. I’ve also refined my approach to photography, focusing on my passion for landscapes and travel. My business has transformed into offering a new line of fine art photo note cards. I’m really excited about the opportunity to pair my favorite photos with this new medium. In addition to the cards, I’m offering prints for sale. I can also provide custom mounting options – matte and frames, canvas gallery wraps – you name it, I’ll find it for you.

I also have a new gallery that houses my favorite images. These images are grouped by subject, ranging from different areas of the country, to images from various college campuses in Indiana. I’m always on the hunt for new subjects to add to the gallery. I welcome suggestions for new directions (especially if it presents an opportunity to travel to someplace new!)

Speaking of travel… We had the opportunity to take a family vacation to Grand Lake Colorado this summer. This also provided the opportunity to capture some of the majestic beauty of the Rocky Mountains. You’ll find some of my favorites in the Colorado gallery, but here are a few more.
